Individual or Group Outplacement Outplacement assistance is the process by which terminated employees are assisted in successfully finding new employment opportunities. Personnel Resource Services assists in providing a smooth transition for the individual by forming a positive, supportive relationship with him/her, while helping the individual cope with trauma of making a career change. During these sessions, a variety of topics are covered which include Stress Management, Self-Assessment and the Re-employment Plan. The Re-employment Plan specifically includes resume preparation, networking, time management, telemarketing, and practice interviewing, which are all directed toward helping the individual in developing his/her job hunting skills. Following is an outline of the topics covered:
Individual Outplacement This involves one on one personal consultation, held at our offices, at the convenience of the individual. These sessions are altered dependent on the personal situation of the individual involved. The length of time and duration of each meeting is determined by the need of the client. An integral part of the counseling session may include various computerized assessment instruments, if deemed appropriate. The use, administration and interpretation, may include, but are not limited to, the following instruments:
In addition to gaining a greater insight into the individual’s motivation and behavior and help him/her discover what is special and unique about his/her abilities, the assessment instruments are used to further assist him/her in the development of the re-employment plan. Programs can range from Labor Market Orientation and Job Preparation to Full Outplacement Services with continuous assistance until re-employment. Resume Preparation and Reproduction A master copy/copies of a resume is provided along with an unlimited number of laser printed original copies on classic laid bond paper. Matching letterhead stationary and envelopes are also provided. Practice Interviewing Interviewing is dealt with extensively and videotaping and critique is offered as a tool. Re-Employment Plan An individual strategy/plan, along with action steps and timelines is developed to assist the individual in his/her employment transition. This includes a marketing strategy designed to maximize the individual’s existing self-promotional strengths and most adequately target desired positions. Examples of the utilization of existing strengths would be the amount of emphasis placed on either a telemarketing campaign or direct mail campaign or a combination of the two, etc. Refinement and potential restructuring will occur throughout the transition period. We will continue to re-evaluate the effectiveness of the strategies and probable success of each during this time. Follow-up Appointments Regularly scheduled meetings subsequent to the initial training/counseling sessions designed to ensure continued activity and success in the employment acquisition process. Topics covered usually include financial planning, interview follow-up and critique, evaluation of employment offers and negotiation the best offer, etc. These would continue until the individual secured employment or has chosen to pursue other career-related options, i.e., self-employment or return to school full-time, etc. Support Materials A workbook is supplied to the individual addressing the topics, as highlighted on the attached "strategies" Outline. Also, an Instructional Video that serves as a training tape is provided for each individual to be used at home to augment and reinforce the personalized instruction in job seeking strategies. An in-house library consisting of video, audio and hard copy is available to the individual to be used as reference material on a ‘loan’ arrangement. The material consists of information on the labor market, instructional information to assist in obtaining employment, (resumes, interviewing, etc.), information on executive recruiters, interpersonal skill building resources and management and leadership information, etc. A computerized data base of local employers is available that identifies companies by geographic area, SIC code, product, size, net worth, gross revenues, name of hiring authority, etc. A computerized report is generated at the request of the individual. Group Meetings Regularly scheduled group meetings can be arranged and include other unemployed clients. These meetings consist of additional training, support, networking and brainstorming sessions. On-Going Support Personnel Resource Services provides Transition Assistance until he has either found a new position or changed his career direction and also follow up on her/him periodically. Our counseling sessions are also available on a continual basis as requested by the individual. Personnel Resource Services assists in direct referrals and major marketing activities. All individuals will be entered into our 400 member, national recruiting network and provided maximum exposure.
